Fong Soon Fook is a Professor in Multimedia Education & New Media at the Faculty of Humanities, Arts & Heritage, Universiti Malaysia Sabah. He is the Coordinator for OER@UMS and the Open-licensed Repository. His dedication as an innovative, creative and bold researcher & educator has been recognised with various awards – Malaysian Invention and Design Society (ITEX) Gold award ( http://epronounce.usm.my/ ); Malaysian Association of Research Scientists (MARS) Gold & Best awards ( http://esignnet.usm.my/ ); USM’s Excellent Educator Award; USM’s Hall of Fame award for publications; Innovative Teacher Awards (State & National levels). He was a Visiting Professor at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, USA; Department of Instructional Systems Technology, Indiana University, Bloomington, USA; Macquarie University, Sydney; INSPIRE Center, University of Canberra, Australia. Fong was awarded the Australian Government’s Endeavor Executive Award for his significant contribution in multimedia education. He has successfully implemented consultation projects for Intel Corp., UNESCO, World Bank Institute, SEAMEO-RECSAM and various MOE agencies. He is the Editor-in-chief of Jurnal Kinabalu and was the past president for the Association for Science & Mathematics Education (Penang). Prof. Fong continues to reinvent himself through innovative applications of new media in the field of mass communication and across all disciplines.
